Our History

Founded in 1965 as Friend’s Tire & Fleet Service, our company quickly emerged as a leader in commercial tire distribution and service in the Mid-Atlantic, cultivating a durable client base that has transcended three generations. The sale of the tire business in 1999 allowed the Friend family to focus on the potential of their real estate holdings, leveraging longstanding client relationships to transition into real estate brokerage.

Friend Commercial Real Estate was officially established in 2017, following the strategic acquisition of Professional Properties, spearheaded by the John, Joseph, and Martin Friend. Joseph Friend, founding President, armed with a Master's in Real Estate Finance from Georgetown University, brought unparalleled financial analysis and evaluation capabilities to the firm, enhancing our assessments of real estate opportunities.

The integration of Todd Bailey, CCIM, the President of Professional Properties, into our team as a pivotal figure has been instrumental in maintaining continuity and excellence. With approximately 15 licensed agents and growing in MD, DC, and VA, our firm has been at the forefront of many landmark deals that have been integral to the continued development of Mid-Atlantic's landscape.
